ESP32 + FluidNC is the current go-to and what https://cncfoam.com targets natively. Specifically:
- Bart Dring 6-Pack Pro — best ergonomics, USB-C, screw terminals, fits TMC2209 drivers, good silkscreen labelling.
- Elecrow Corgi — cheaper, same chip, fewer niceties.
- PiBot V4.96 — older option, still works.
All three run FluidNC with our YAML config. Older 8-bit boards (Mega 2560 + RAMPS 1.4) work too if you flash the original 2015 Foamcube firmware, but you lose all the modern niceties. The full BOM is on https://cncfoam.com/hardware.php.
