Help test CNCFOAM.COM
This is a beta, one-person hobby project — free and open to everyone. As far as I can tell it is fully functional, but the thing I cannot do alone is prove it across every machine, file and workflow out there. That is where you come in.
What I need most
Real-world testers
Run the tool against your own files and your own hardware. Cut real foam, push the edge cases, and tell me what works and what breaks. Honest "this didn't do what I expected" reports are gold.
YouTube explainer videos
A walkthrough, a build, a "here's how I cut X" — video is the single biggest thing that would help a free, open project like this reach the people who could use it. If you make one, I'll happily link it and feature it.
Feedback & ideas
Missing a feature? Something awkward? Tell me. I read everything and I build fixes and new features based on what testers actually ask for.
How this project works
It is a one-man show. I design, code, and maintain cncfoam.com on my own, as a hobby, in my spare time. There is no team and no company behind it — just me and the feedback I get.
It is free and open. The simulator runs entirely in your browser; your files never leave your machine unless you choose to publish them to the Shape library. No login needed to use it.
It is in beta. I believe it is fully functional and I use it myself, but "works for me" is not the same as "works for everyone". Treat anything labelled BETA as exactly that, and double-check generated G-code before you run it on real hardware.
My promise
I will support wherever I can. Send me a bug, a confusing workflow, a broken file, or a feature you wish existed, and I will do my best to build fixes and new features based on your feedback. This tool gets better because testers tell me where it falls short — so please do.
Other ways to help
- Spread the word. Post about it, link to it, drop it in your favourite maker community. Word-of-mouth is the biggest favour you can do a free project.
- Send pictures of real cuts — from new rigs or old ones. They help validate the parser and the motion model. Even broken or malformed pieces are useful.
- Share shapes. SVG / DXF profiles or full G-code jobs you'd be happy to see in the Shape library.
- 2015 Foamcube owners — if one is still in your garage, I'd love to hear what holds up and what doesn't.
