Terms of Use & Copyright
Plain-English version. The full legal text is in LICENSE.txt — that's the controlling document if there's ever a conflict.
What you can do
- Use the cncfoam.com tool freely to design, simulate, and cut foam parts.
- Sell, gift, or otherwise use the foam parts you cut. They're yours.
- Link to cncfoam.com from anywhere.
- Talk about the project, embed a screenshot in a tutorial, etc. Normal fair-use stuff is fine.
What you can't do
- Copy, rehost, mirror, or rebrand the tool or its source code. The browser has to download the code to run it — that doesn't make it free to redistribute.
- Reverse-engineer the algorithms (G-code generation, kinematics, future AI features) beyond what's unavoidable for personal browser use.
- Scrape the site or its outputs to train AI models or build datasets.
- Remove copyright notices, watermarks, or attribution.
- Sell or sublicense the tool. If you want a commercial licence (e.g. white-label for a makerspace), email me.
Hardware
The Foamcube hardware designs, BOMs, and assembly guides are released under their own terms when they ship. The software tool and the hardware project are separate. The tool will work with any FluidNC-compatible 4-axis foam cutter — you do not have to use my hardware.
Warranty
None. Hot wires get hot, foam catches fire, CNC machines pinch fingers. Use at your own risk. I can't be held liable for what your machine does or doesn't do, or for parts that don't come out the way you expected.
AI / machine-learning training
This site, its source, its 3D output, and any content generated by it are not licensed for use in training, fine-tuning, evaluating, or otherwise developing machine-learning models. If your crawler honours robots.txt, please respect the AI-training disallows there.
Privacy
The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your designs, profiles, and G-code never leave your machine unless you explicitly upload to the (future) shared shape library. The site uses one self-hosted analytics pixel to count page views — no third-party trackers, no ads.
Changes
These terms can change. The version on this page is always the current one. Material changes will be flagged in the site's news feed.
