What's a \"morph\" cut and why does it matter?

asked by Marije van Dijk · 2025-10-19
Most cuts use the same 2D profile on both wire endpoints — the wire stays parallel to itself and sweeps a simple extrusion. A morph cut uses DIFFERENT profiles on the left and right tower, so the wire tilts as it travels. The swept surface is a ruled surface between the two profiles. That's how you cut tapered wings, transition ducts, twisted columns. 4-axis machines only — 2-axis machines mirror left to right.
