How do I cut a clean airfoil or wing?

preguntado por Comunidad · 2026-06-08
Start with a good profile (a real airfoil coordinate set, or the built-in wing generator), mount the foam blank squarely, and tension the wire hard. Use a moderate, steady feedrate matched to the foam so the wire does not bow — bow rounds the trailing edge, the most sensitive part of a wing. A lead-in and lead-out off the block keeps the entry and exit clean.

For a constant section, both ends run the same profile; for a tapered or washed-out wing, use the two-end (morph) capability so root and tip differ. Cut top and bottom surfaces in one pass where possible. A taut wire, balanced heat/feed, and a square blank give crisp leading and trailing edges.
